10. Abdominal pain and blood in the urine
Intravascular hemolysis, which is caused by iron deficiency, breaks down red blood cells in the bloodstream and releases iron, which is then lost in the urine. This sometimes happens in people who do strenuous exercise, especially jogging, which can cause trauma to the small blood vessels in the feet, known as “march hematuria”.
